![]() At the end of the day its all down to personal preference, and you should try out each mod by yourself vs AI before jumping in PvP. Right now its a great mod for people who don't like units having a small pool of abilities, or no abilities at all. It went through a few large updates some people didn't like, but considering there are currently only 2-3 people working on it when compared to a whole team (More people I guess) of Wikinger, some changes cannot happen all at once. Spearhead speeds up the gameplay a lot, something that is a turnoff for some people that don't like increased speed of combat, however there is a lot of streamlined things such as hotkeys (Which for instance overlap quite a lot in Wikinger), veterancy, and unit stats across all factions. ![]() Wikinger has very interesting setup that bring some CoH1 things back, their grenades have invisible counters, and generally there is a lot larger unit diversity, more with some doctrines than with others. There was only one Italy mod that was decent but you had to sacrifice the Pioneer squad you started with to get a true Italian unit lineup and the only Commander bonus they had was Hulldown being a constant unlock.Īdvanced Powers is nice for ridiculous units and interesting doctrines but can be extremely frustrating, it feels like Wehrmacht only does well with Panzerkraft while Allies are completely doomed against any OKW Specialization bit that's just from playing with the AI.Ĭurrently best mods for CoH2 (Not by playerbase, because All Units wins there by a long shot) are Wikinger and Spearhead. There are many mods in the workshop but theyre very limited since they cant change models and textures, only things like stats, abilities or implement new gamemodes. China-Forgotten Ally used to be a good choice despite its blatant disregard for the arsenal during WW2 in Tier 4 but now it's got a bunch of redundant units and ridiculously low fuel costs to unlock buildings while replacing Soviets. The advanced powers mod is based off of wolfienstien if you wanna try that. I find that Imperial Japanese Forces is the best mod that adds a faction to the game that actually feels like it fits although it replaces Wehrmacht and could use a few more non-doctrinal units like the Type 1 Ho-Ha halftrack and perhaps the Type 92 battalion gun.
